Sutton Kersh sold over 75% of the 94 lots offered at its final property auction of the year, generating proceeds in excess of £4,700,000.
Buyers turned out in large numbers for the sale at the Liverpool City Centre Marriott Hotel and competitive bidding helped many lots exceed their advertised guide prices.
The best performing lot of the day was Hollystead House, a detached grade II listed period property in Wavertree which sold for £397,000, off a guide of £350,000 plus.
Meanwhile, a mixed use investment on Smithdown Road in L15 which is part-let to Subway Realty Ltd at an annual rent of £14,000, sold for £361,500. The guide price was £335,000 plus.
Elsewhere, a three storey five bedroom end of terrace house on Sheil Road in L6 which was offered on behalf of a Housing Association at a guide of £35,000 to £40,000, sold for £69,500.
Cathy Holt, Auction Manageress at Sutton Kersh said: ‘Buyers had clearly chosen our auction room instead of the high street as the place to bag themselves a pre Christmas bargain. There was strong demand for a wide range of stock and with plenty of post sale interest the final figures will be even more impressive.’
The December sale has brought the curtain down on a highly successful series of auctions staged by Sutton Kersh this year.
At the seven sales held between February and December over 600 lots have been sold, generating total proceeds of close to £40,000,000.
Mrs Holt said: ‘We have enjoyed an exceptional year, throughout which we have consistently delivered strong results on behalf of our customers, proving once again why we are Merseyside’s leading auction firm.’
Sutton Kersh is now inviting instructions for its first auction of 2014 which takes place on 12 February. The catalogue closes on 15 January.
