The 13 properties that made up the set of Merseyside television soap Brookside are now available to let. 

Back in December 2008, the infamous Brookside Close was sold to an anonymous purchaser at auction. It had spent years lying vacant after the previous developer who bought the set from Mersey Television in 2005, went into administration.

The programme, which during its peak attracted over 20million viewers was one of the most of the most popular soap operas on tv ranking alongside Eastenders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. The iconic West Derby cul-de-sac that once saw its residents murdered, taken hostage and buried under the patio, became especially well-known for broadcasting the first pre-watershed lesbian kiss on British television and for its storyline featuring a consensual incestuous sexual relationship between two sibling characters in 1996. Viewing figures started to fall as its story-lines became increasingly elaborate and it was eventually axed from our screens in November 2003.

A number of the former residents of the Close shot to fame following their stint on the show including now Hollywood A-lister Anna Friel who played Beth Jordache, Sue Johnston and  Ricky Tomlinson who appeared in the early episodes as Shelia and Bobby Grant and later went on to work together on the comedy series The Royal Family, TV personality and broadway singer / dancer Jennifer Ellison who played the part of Emily Shadwick and Amanda Burton star of Silent Witness, Commander and Waterloo Road who played Heather Huntingdon.

Local estate agent Sutton Kersh are sole agents for the scheme and are marketing the properties to let through their West Derby branch.  The portfolio includes a one-bedroom maisonette, two and three bedroom town houses, three and four bedroom detached houses and a two bedroom bungalow. Prices start at £425pcm for the one bedroom maisonette and go up to £750pcm for the four bedroom detached house.
