Commercial Director at Sutton Kersh Jonathan Owen has noted over the last 12 months there has been an influx of independent restaurants opening in and around Liverpool city centre. ‘ This year our department has seen a considerable rise of requests from independent restaurants looking for premises within the city centre. I think a large attraction for restaurant owners is the reasonable and attractive rates that are available on commercial properties within hot spots throughout the city and also the large and steady footfall throughout the retail and tourist areas.’

In the last few years eating habits have changed, with people eating out everyday of the week as opposed to just on a Thursday, Friday or weekends. With holidays/travelling becoming more popular and accessible, peoples taste buds are needing more exciting cuisines, hence the dramatic increase in multi cuisine restaurants. Jonathan adds "Our city has many beautiful buildings to offer and many of the restaurants recently popping up are choosing to keep the industrial/distressed more rustic look, which has been a popular trend in key cities across the world. A few examples of these are that of the Baltic Triangle, and new establishments within The Rope Walks.."

With the cities extensive retail and leisure offerings there has become a natural increase in demand for accommodation both residential and student within the city, encouraging more restaurants to open to meet the consumer needs.

This year Sutton Kersh have let premises to trendy independents such as Miyagi, Blind Tiger, Neon Jamon and Rack & Dollar, with more deals set to complete before Christmas. The city truly is bustling and is a commercial dream for industries due to its retail, cultural, historic and educational offerings.
