Merseyside auctioneer Sutton Kersh sold 103 (86.5%) of the 119 lots offered at its April property auction, generating proceeds in excess of £6.5 million.

High levels of pre sale activity, which saw 30 lots selling prior, contributed to the strong overall performance. With enquiries still being received on the few remaining lots, further sales are anticipated.

The sale at the Liverpool City Centre Marriott Hotel once again attracted a large attendance and bidding was brisk from the very first lot, a vacant two storey semi-detached in Sefton Park. The property on York Avenue has been converted to provide four, one bedroom flats and achieved £196,000 off a guide of £140,000 plus.

Lot two, a three storey property on Beech Street in L7, currently arranged as three self contained flats also proved popular, selling for £121,000 off a guide of £80,000 to £90,000.

Meanwhile, a vacant Victorian detached property on Croxteth Grove in L8, guided at £185,000, sold for £219,000.

Commercial highlights included a vacant industrial building on Kempston Street in L3 which sold for £62,500. The guide price was £25,000 to £35,000. Elsewhere, City Church Preston on North Road in Preston achieved £249,000.

suggested it would be a successful auction, and we were not disappointed. Our regular investors were out in force, as were a number of new faces, which is a very positive sign.

‘There was an appetite for stock in all categories with many lots attracting multiple bids, driving prices well beyond the advertised guides.’

Sutton Kersh is now inviting instructions for its next sale which takes place on 4 June. The catalogue closes on 9 May.
